To Hommeboy, the current state of Hip Hop seems rather bleak. The genre features an array of artists that showcase their talent but none who represented his explosively vibrant personality and outlook on life. He didn’t want to bow down to the usual conventions this genre dictates its artists must be and broke off into a new territory that showcased his undeniable charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent that proved that he was anything but conventional. His soundscape gives a voice to the under-represented in this genre and gives them a voice to proudly shout from the rooftops and make them confident in their own identity. Hommeboy is the type of artist this world needs right now and he’s making that very clear.

His debut What We Want (WWW) is a trip down memory lane with the nostalgic 90’s production, that makes me think back to the The Notorious B.I.G in Mo Money Mo Problem, but the piece looks to the future through the empowering lyricisms that tells the world what he and millions of others wanted from this years USA election. It encourages everyone who listens to continue to strive towards a bright future, the battle might’ve been won but the war is not over and you’ve got to be proactive to get the change you want to see in the world to happen. He wants everlasting change and if this track encourages more people to make movements then Hommeboy has done his job. Keep an eye on this one.
