Young adulthood is tumultuous time for us all. A period of our life where we’re stumbling through the ‘real world’ we now find ourselves in after navigating the educational one for the majority of our time on this earth. We have no clue what we’re doing, have no idea what’s going on and are just trying to make it to the end of the day most of the time. That is exactly why Jordy’s latest single IDK Shit couldn’t be more perfectly titled.
The single is a snapshot of his current life, parents worrying about what his future holds, being consistently confused and a never ending revolving door of rejections from his love life to his future job prospects. The buoyancy of the soundscape masks the inner terror radiating from the lyrics, insinuating that he masquerades as a competent adult when in reality he feels like a lost kid meandering through day to day life.
Filled with charisma, he effortlessly croons his worries and concerns whilst masking the piece as a bubbly pop anthem you’d expect to be about the joys of a summer holiday. The anthemic hook wriggles its way into your head and embarrasses you on a regular basis as you try to reach those high notes. Include a music video that replicates the iconic Blind Date TV show format and it’s clear that Jordy, despite the title of the track, knows exactly what he’s doing.
