Atlanta’s treasure, Killer Mike, recently released an official video for a new song called ‘Run’ featuring vocals or narration from American American stand-up comedian and actor Dave Chappelle and the currently incarcerated Hip-Hop pop star and fellow Atlantan Young Thug. Running alongside a body of water through a field, a young Black man with muscles ends up on an active battlefield. Soldiers—men and women—surround him as they fight for freedom. Over the catchy instrumental, Mike’s delivery is as smooth as usual, teaching us never to give up and to keep our feet under us no matter how weak, scared or unsure we are because once we sit down or cower (crouch down in fear), we lose.

Young Thug—for reasons beyond his control—isn’t seen in the visual component, but deliberate messaging about freeing him and YSL is present.

‘Run’—produced by No ID—is Killer Mike’s latest solo single since releasing ‘RAP Music’ in 2012. Adrian Villagomez directed the beautiful yet triggering visual below. Watch it.
