“An ode to the internet generation and packed with references to drugs, chemical imbalances, and Kanye,” says frontman Frankie, ‘FAMOUS’ is the latest single in POLICE CAR COLLECTIVE’s bedroom indie-pop nostalgic-feeling catalogue. Based in Liverpool, the duo first met at Liverpool University where both Frankie and Simon bonded over their shared love of music, trading home demos and tour horror stories. Since then, POLICE CAR COLLECTIVE has released a string of singles this year with a highlight performance at the infamous Reading & Leeds Festival 2021 along with strong support from BBC Introducing. Their latest single ‘FAMOUS’, taken from their forthcoming second EP, sees the duo create an upbeat punk-leaning bedroom-pop track with Frankie’s professing about “Wanting be to f***ing famous!” Driven by a thumping drum groove, a rumbling bassline and a wave of distorted guitars, the track takes you on a rollercoaster ride from the get-go before spitting you out before even reaching the 3-minute mark.
Starring made-up characters Starkid & The Disco King (Frankie and Simon), the official music video for ‘FAMOUS’ was directed, edited and written by the duo themselves, a testament to their DIY and all-round creative ethos. You can watch the official music video now.
