North Carolina-native, Solomon Fox, now based out of Los Angeles, California was introduced to me a couple of months ago, and instantly became in tune with this singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose recordings combined delicate vocal harmonies, soulfully understated production, and intimate, off-kilter lyrics. In 2019, he broke through as a producer, working with fellow songwriters Joshuah Campbell and Cynthia Erivo to create the Gospel-infused anthem “Stand Up” for the film Harriet, which would go on to earn Grammy, Oscar, and Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Song. That same year, Fox would be recruited to work on Smino’s mixtape S.A.D, for which he co-produced “Mike Jones” and “Year of the Goat” in collaboration with Groove and Thundercat. For the second consecutive year, Fox was nominated at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for his production of “You Are Exactly Like No One” from Pierce Freelon’s album Black to the Future.
Tuning into this past year, Mr. Fox released his critically acclaimed EP “Solomon.” After a barrage of singles that blew a warming melodic breeze, we focus on his latest single named ‘Never Let Me Go’ which was released on July 6th. His production etiquette is simple but carries lush and dreamy fashions that teleport you on top of the clouds. Tranquil melodies and witty writing speak of a friendship that transitions into a serious connection. If you enjoy the previously mentioned artists then be sure to check out his latest daze and keep up with what’s to come.
