Fusing hyper pop together with the ever rising comeback of the early 2000’s pop punk sound, torr’s latest release gives us something both marvellously nostalgic and refreshingly modern at the same time. Looking at the pop punk genre through a Gen Z internet age lens, dammit features an array of organic synths that provide a slightly whimsical video game feel to the soundscape before the raw guitar riffs arrive to give the piece some much need grit to amplify the eccentric quality of torr’s dynamic vocal. He’s deconstructed the two genres into their most basic elements and merging them together with his minimalist-maximalist view being the secret ingredient that makes this song a true bop.

I can see this featuring as the opening track for a modern day reboot of a TV show like Malcolm in the Middle, 90210 or Punk’d, especially with the addictive hook that this track offers. When it comes to the hyper pop genre, torr is one of those musicians who’s leading the way in NYC as he continually experiments with the soundscape to push it further than anyone and explore new areas that so refreshing and exciting to behold. Whatever he does next, you know it’s going to be something everyones going to be trying out a few weeks later.
