Right now one the hottest rising musicians is none other than the half American and half German musician clide who’s created quite a stir through the cadence within his storytelling and natural ability to create relatable tracks that can connect with people no matter their age, gender or background. His previous releases have ranged from intimate piano ballads like broken parts that saw him arrive in 2020 in style or his previous release blank space that is one of the highlights of the pop calendar this year with buoyant synths and cheerful keys leading the production. He’s shown that his sonic identity is multifaceted and he continues his hot run of form in 2020 through the flourishing single WYL, the last single upfront to his debut EP in my mind.

Whilst the production remains fairly melancholy with somber synths mixing with a gloomy bass riff to relay back to the lyrics that focus on clide pining for the girl of his dreams who, ironically, only appears to him in his dreams. The inner languish he experiences through his powerful vocal brings back vivid memories about times where you’d fantasise about someone, thinking they’d be the love of your life and you’d live happily ever after, until the realisation that life is not a fairytale hits you. clide always keeps us on our toes and continues to thrive in 2020, no doubt he’ll continue to do it long into 2021.
