When you see Travis Barker collaborating with someone on a track you just know it’s going to be a pop punk anthem and this is no exception. MILES is known for his multifaceted soundscape, waving away the usual genre terminology and creating sound that are distinct to him. Whether it be polymerising intoxicating pop hooks with hard hitting hip hop beats, the fervent guitars of grime rock with an alternative vocal performance or, as we’ve discovered today, anthemic pop punk with a cloud-rap twist and subtle country flair.
Never Have I Ever is a stadium anthem if ever I’ve heard one. The frantic guitars are precise but chaotic in nature, making you want to jump head first into a mosh pit whilst creaming the hook at the top of your lungs like you were performing on stage with MILES himself. You blast this out of your car speakers, roll the windows down, let the wind blow through your hair, and feel a freedom unlike any other because that’s what this track is for. The production commands you to throw caution to the wind and have the time of your life, not caring what others think and just doing whatever you want to do. What’s not to love about that?
“‘NEVER HAVE I EVER’ felt like the perfect song to record live drums on when we were finalising the EP. I was so excited when word came back that Travis was going to hop on the track; having him play drums on my song is a huge honour. I can’t wait for everyone to hear this new project and am thankful for everyone involved in it.”
