Last week, Africa’s largest record label, Mavin Records, reached out in an email to share their latest find: Bayanni. Oladokun Abimbola Elijah was born to a family of five boys. His mother is a school teacher, and his father is a university bursar. As most African parents would have it, music wasn’t the first pick for Bayanni. On August 24, the twenty-five-year-old singer-songwriter released his four-track debut project. The project explores life-inspired songs about providing for his loved ones (‘Family’ produced by Sparrq Beatz), a beautiful woman he wants to spend his money on (‘Body’ produced by Andre Vibez), intimate time with a lady (‘Ta Ta Ta’ produced Prestige), and (‘Kala’ produced by Sparrq Beatz).
